2021 Chalmers Vermentino2021 Chalmers Vermentino$28.00
Clean and crisp single-vineyard Vermentino from the pioneering family that first imported this vine variety into Australia. It shows white peach and Meyer lemonwith an overall chalkiness and sea spray tang leaving you wanting more.
2021 Chalmers Nero d'Avola2021 Chalmers Nero d'Avola$28.00
Single-site Nero d’Avola from the family that first brought this grape into Australia. The grapes were handpicked on 12th and 17th March 2021 from the Chalmers vineyard in Heathcote, where soils feature a combination of ironstone, dolerite, green basalt and quartz. Wild fermented as whole berries. Unfined. Unfiltered. Vegan friendly. Vibrant and juicy, with captivating notes of wild raspberry, redcurrant jelly, bay leaf and graphite and fine tannins.
2020 Chalmers Rosato2020 Chalmers Rosato$28.00
86/7/7% Aglianico/Nero d’Avola/Sagrantino. Handpicked and whole-bunch pressed, wild-yeast fermented – the Aglianico in chestnut botte, the Nero d’Avola and Sagrantino in stainless steel. Without doubt one of the few Aussie rosés ever produced from these grapes. Pretty in dusty pink. Earthy, dusty, dried cranberry and cherry aromas move into a lightly floral palate with light spice and a solid acid backbone. Taut and tasty. 88 points. Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion 2022
2020 Chalmers Nero d'Avola2020 Chalmers Nero d'Avola$28.00
Nero, as it is increasingly being shortened to, is one versatile grape. Tasted in youth, this is hard to resist. Fruit forward, plummy, cherry sensation with bon-bon confection and floral sub-notes that fills the mouth with a vibrant energy. In large part, it can be put down to some pretty impressive and noteworthy tannins that give the wine plenty of bounce and, it must be said, potential for ageing. 91 points. Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion 2022
2020 Chalmers Greco2020 Chalmers Greco$32.00
Hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild fermented in stainless steel, matured 10 months in aged puncheons. Mid yellow hue. A most robust white wine with fig, citrus peel, honeysuckle and wild honey. Almost viognier-like taste. Quite a presence, with texture paramount and riffs of orange blossom, white peach and pear. Fills the mouth with flavour and spice. 90 points. Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion
2020 Chalmers Dott Ribolla Gialla2020 Chalmers Dott Ribolla Gialla$29.00
The Dott. series of alternative grapes brought into Australia by Chalmers is dedicated to the late Dr. Rod. Bonfiglioli, who encouraged the family in their pursuit of the new and unusual to this country. The grape grows in Friuli, Italy and Slovenia. Light straw hue. Delicate aromas of snow pea, apple, citrus and jasmine. It stretches out on the palate, extending its flavour reach to include muscat, nougat and dried pear, brought into line nicely by firm acidity. Makes a striking impression. 500ml. 92 points. Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion 2022
2019 Chalmers Fiano2019 Chalmers Fiano$36.00
The Chalmers know how to bring out the personality in all the varieties they grow and this delightful Fiano is no exception. This example from 2019 is utterly delicious, having intense fresh pear and lemon flavours accented by crushed roasted hazelnuts. Supporting the wine is a sophisticated phenolic frame which, in addition to channelling the flavours through the palate, shapes the wine and gives it a pleasant gentle astringency. The unique flavour and killer structure make it a must-have drop for 2021. Toni Paterson MW, Gourmet Traveller WINE
2018 Chalmers Lambrusco2018 Chalmers Lambrusco$43.00
This superb and utterly original Italian-inspired Australian wine is made in a dry, aperitif style. It's vibrant and affirming with notes of violets, blackcurrant and spice, with a slight but assertive tannic grip.
2018 Chalmers Dott Schioppettino 500ml2018 Chalmers Dott Schioppettino 500ml$29.00
This rare and beautiful northeast Italian grape gives a wine bursting with white pepper and Dutch speculaas spice aromas, plus a hint of jasmine and woodsy notes. The medium-bodied palate reiterates the anise, cinnamon and cardamom spices with cedar oil, blackcurrant and Davidson plum flavours. These are supported by medium-grain tannins, giving a lingering, dry finish.
2018 Chalmers Dott Malvasia Istriana 500ml2018 Chalmers Dott Malvasia Istriana 500ml$29.00
The 2018 Malvasia Istriana is golden straw in colour and has delicate spiced apple, lemon and hay aromas with a crisp, mineral palate of freshly cut red apple, fine structure and pleasant acidity.
2017 Chalmers Rosato Magnum2017 Chalmers Rosato Magnum$58.00
Whole-bunch pressed (no saignee), wild yeast, 63% aglianico fermented in barrel, 33% sagrantino and 4% nero d'Avola co-fermented in stainless steel. The whole bunch pressing is reflected by the very pale pink colour, the barrel fermentation by the spicy overtones to the bouquet. The palate is dry, but juicily fruity, with an even flow of small red fruits from start to finish. One for the nerds, but also for those who know just how high Australian standards are by world comparison, thanks to our winery technology. 93 points. James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
2017 Chalmers Lambrusco Appassimento 375ml2017 Chalmers Lambrusco Appassimento 375ml$48.00
The aroma and flavour of pure, rich prune and crushed, woodsy spices. It's soft, mouthfilling, well-balanced and exceptionally easy to drink. It's a curio, but a good one. The word 'pure' should be emphasised. 375ml. 93 points. Campbell Mattinson, 2020 Halliday Wine Companion
2017 Chalmers Dott Pavana 500ml2017 Chalmers Dott Pavana 500ml$29.00
The late Dr Rod Bonfiglioli was a visionary viticulturist who encouraged Australian winemakers and growers to plant more adventurous grape varieties, both in response to climate change and also to diversify our gastronomy. This wine is a tribute to him: “Dott.” – the shortened form of “dottore” – refers to Dr Rod’s passion for Italian varieties such as the rare red pavana. It’s now the only example of pavana made in Australia and it’s gorgeous: light, juicy, crunchy, with an intriguing sour cherry and scorched almond twist. Max Allen, Australian Financial Review, 20 best wines of 2019
2016 Chalmers Felicitas Sparkling Fiano2016 Chalmers Felicitas Sparkling Fiano$43.00
An unusual sparkler made from fiano and lees aged for 27 months. Pale and fragrant, with aromas of figs, stone fruit and nougat, it's appealing, clean and appetising. A foaming mouthfeel and soft mid-palate are enhanced by a crisp tang and a light drying grip on the finish. Crown seal; 12.5 per cent alcohol. 90 points. Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age
2016 Chalmers Aglianico2016 Chalmers Aglianico$43.00
Excellent. It's a wine of gravity and presence. It tastes of bright berries, florals and leathers and and when it says goodbye it shakes your hand firmly. It's not heavy but it means business. 95 points. Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion 2020
