The Irrewarra label is made by the By Farr folk from a vineyard, planted in 2001, nearby to Colac and nearby to the Henty region. There’s a pretty, sweet-fruited, almost jubey, almost floral aspect to the nose but the palate is all structure and class. I guess you’d call this lean-ish but it offers enough and it shoots long. I’m not quite sure what to call this fruit flavour, somewhere between cranberry and boysenberry, with fresh cherry and infusions of springtime herbs. It’s a wine of beauty and of promise. It will improve.
