From established vines on the floor of the Yarra Valley, Tim Shand has been picking early to retain freshness and vibrancy in the Put Road wines. Though they punch well above their weight by employing fastidious viticulture and creative wine making approaches, these wines are delicious and fresh enough to enjoy at any time.

1 x 2019 Punt Road Chardonnay

Oh, it’s juicy and flavoursome, fresh pineapple with some rice pudding kind of thing, dusted with a little cinnamon, but it’s also quite tight and controlled, some flint and citrus, good line, a pretty long finish of tang and flinty feels. It’s sunshine and picnics, with a wee bit of savoury stuff in the aftertaste. Value. Value. Value. And it’ll likely be better again with a bit more time in bottle. 92 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

1 x 2019 Punt Road Gamay

What a charming and tasty wine this is. Cherry and little raspberry frogs leaping into a bowl of black pepper, gin and cinnamon, a wisp of smokiness in the background. It’s supple and fruity, but kind of meaty and spicy too, with gentle graphite tannin grip, and strawberry and spice running on a good long finish. So nicely done. 93 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

1 x 2019 Punt Road Pinot Noir

There’s a lot of thought goes into making wines at Punt Road. Tim Shand is something of an alchemist in the winery. Red fruit, some fennel, also quite smoky too. It delivers a good amount of flavour with fine chalky tannin, a little drying, but with strawberry in a lipstick mouth sweetness to temper, along with brown spices and dried herb. A nice bit of complexity, and some grip on a solid finish. It’s drinking very well now, which is good news too. 93 Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
