2020 Pierre Amadieu Vinsobres ‘Les Piallats’ is 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. Vinsobres is the northernmost cru of the southern Rhône Valley. Located at an altitude of 350m, the terraces of Les Piallats are southeast-facing and composed of grey marl and banks of gravel of fluvial origin. In this terroir, Grenache, though at its northern limit, reaches optimum ripeness and Syrah exhibits an astonishing freshness.
Harvested by hand, then destemmed, the grapes are vinified traditionally. 12 months’ ageing in foudres and old barrels. This terroir – and its altitude – gives this cuvée subtlety and freshness. It has beautiful aromatic expression dominated by notes of red fruits.
