A new name, not a new wine. The Eocene High Density Pinot Noir is now Old Cherry Orchard (the Eocene label continues but without High Density). So to recap, this is 10,000 vines/ha, all Abel clone, 10% whole bunches, fermented wild in concrete and 31 days on skins then aged in French oak, 20% new. A deceptive wine. as its light ruby hue and delicate aromas bely the power it holds and the definition of the savoury yet raw-silk-like tannins. Sweet red cherries, tart rhubarb, spices befitting a souk and acidity tightly holding everything in place.
