The first edition of this delicious Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Riesling Kabinett was grown in 1991. Since then this wine is the heart of our family winery. It is the perfect ambassador of our family and its origin in the mighty “Roter Hang”.
It is a lively pioneer of a traditional yet exciting and always contemporary wine style. Therefore it deservedly carries the name of our founder Jean Baptiste Gunderloch, for whom the renown poet Carl Zuckmayer created a literary monument with the piece “Der Fröhliche Weinberg (“The Jolly Vineyard”).
The wine is born and raised exclusively on classified VDP.Grand Cru und VDP.Premier Cru vineyards (Pettenthal, Hipping und Rothenberg). Raised in stainless steel tanks, 26g/l residual to balance out the 9g/l acidity.
This Kabinett is at home in the whole world of wine: On the menus of the best Michelin-starred restaurants, at the Nobel Peace Prize dinner, Asian street-food stalls, festivals (from culinary to heavy metal) and dinner tables everywhere. – Johannes Hasselbach
