Fresh, attractive varietal flavour with spice notes inlaid and high drinkability all-around. If you have an itch to drink pinot noir, this scratches it pretty well. It offers sweet-sour cherry flavours, cedar-smoked oak, a touch of mint and a flash of undergrowth. Pretty straightforward winemaking as always. Nice mix of Coal Valley, east Coast and Lower Derwent vineyards. Natural ferments with no added yeast. 2.5T open top ferments with the odd whole bunch batch in the blend. 9 months in seasoned French oak puncheon. Grown on quite fertile, grunty soils with 90 hectares planted on a 120-hectare site. It echoes the fruits, flowers and spiced depicted on the label. Perfumed aromas, subtle oak spice, and supple palate create a wonderful site-expressive Pinot Noir. 25% of the Pinot has fruits sourced from Lowestoft vineyard, 30% East Coast and the rest from the Strelley Farm’s historic Coal River Valley vineyard.
