2018 JmSélèque Soliste Meunier ‘Gouttes D’Or’

3 plots on the magnificent southeast facing ‘Les Gouttes d’Or’ planted in 1951, 1953 & 1968 on Cuisian clay with a strong presence of flint & limestone over Campanian chalk subsoil. Fermented in old oak barrels ranging from 350-600 litres for 10 months and bottles with no fining or filtration and aged under cork on lees for 4 years and finished with 2 g/l after disgorging.

Barrel fermented and aged on cork the Meunier here sits on chalk bottom of slope and are very old vines that have the added bonus of recovering very well with ‘second generation’ fruit when need be. This is really powerful wine with intense nutty/brioche/ hard cheese notes in abundance. Complex yet playful the ‘soloist’ (aka Soliste)  here if it were a musician would be Miles Davis for sure.
