The Contratto 2020 Alta Langa Metodo Classico Millesimato Pas Dosé opens to a luminous golden color with a very faint hint of shiny copper. The beading is slower and softer in this wine, and it proceeds to the palate with easy tones of peach, tropical fruit and baked pear. The 2020 Contratto Millesimato Pas Dosé is a striking expression of Alta Langa’s potential for serious, ageworthy sparkling wine. Sourced from estate-grown Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, the fruit from this warm, dry vintage delivered richness and ripeness without sacrificing balance. The wine is crafted using Metodo Classico, with only free-run juice used and no dosage added, resulting in a wine of purity, structure and finesse. Aged for more than three years on lees, it opens with lifted aromas of citrus blossom, stone fruit, almond and brioche. The palate is creamy yet precise, offering notes of candied peach, baked lemon and honeyed pear, with vivid acidity and a savoury mineral edge bringing drive and length. This is an elegant and complex sparkling wine that confidently holds its own among the world’s best.
