2022 Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner ‘Spitz’ Steinfeder

Franz Hirtzberger’s ‘Spitz’ Grüner Veltliner Steinfeder is made from grapes grown on vineyards that are mostly planted on alluvial/sandy soils with good water supply close to the Danube in and around the villages of Spitz and Schwallenbach, which can be found further west along the river. Thanks to the cool growing conditions the grapes are still picked relatively late into October & November in order to ensure sufficient ripeness and flavour development. Fermented in stainless steel this is a terrific introduction to the fabulous wines of the estate.
