Lovely, delicate white flower aromas. Wonderful interplay of grapey, creamy and stony character on the concentrated and barely medium-bodied palate. So juicy, but everything is beautifully balance and the long finish is very clean. Drink or hold. 95 points. Stuart Pigott, jamessuckling.com Aug 2024

The exceptional renown of the Trittenheimer Apotheke vineyard comes in part from its unique combination of rocky slate subsoil and a relatively protected southwest exposition. The slate absorbs warmth and releases it slowly over an extended period, promoting a good transformation of acids by the vines. The result is a delicate acidity mingling with spicy, powerful minerality.
The grapes are always hand-harvested and gently pressed. The must ferments with native yeasts in traditional Mosel fuder barrels and is left on the lees until May. Eva Clüsserath’s Riesling Auslese has delicate fruit aromas of ripe apple, lychee, nectarine and fine lemon, which linger on a long finish.
Aromas of quince, passionfruit, pomegranate and citrus are accompanied by smoky aromas and minerality. On the palate, fresh citrus lingers to a long mineral finish. Wines in this style beg for extended cellar aging. – Eva Clüsserath
