July 2020

Welcome to the CellarHand newsletter.

Wine waits for no one, you might say, with plenty of exciting stuff happening against a backdrop of strangeness and stasis. Anyway, thanks for getting here – we hope you’re well!

Among the headlines on the home front, we’ve celebrated the release of Onannon‘s single-vineyard wines and a big win for their cool-climate Victorian stablemates Shadowfax. On the bright white side TWR of Marlborough has been fêted once more, plus we have a new vintage of Corymbia‘s Swan Valley Chenin Blanc. If it’s something skinsy you’re after, Airlie Bank‘s 2020 Pinot Gris is out now. And we bid farewell to the great Pete Bissell of Balnaves, who bows out after a glorious 25-year reign at the Coonawarra estate, handing the reins to his talented understudy Jacinta Jenkins.

In import news, the wines of Alsace biodynamic ace Ostertag are in the spotlight, as is grower Champagne from Jacquesson, Labruyère and JmSélèque. From Austria, your favourite Grüner Veltliner from Domäne Wachau rolls onto a new vintage, and we have some new collaboration gems from Roland Velich of Moric fame. Last stop is Italy, with recent shipments from G.D. Vajra and La Spinetta here now to perk you up!
