2019 Chalmers Felicitas Sparkling Fiano

The superb and highly original Chalmers Felicitas is a traditional method sparkling wine that takes its name from the Roman goddess of fertility, good luck and happiness. Made from 100% hand-picked Fiano grown at an elevation of 150 – 170m on the red Cambrian soils of the family’s vineyard in Heathcote, it spends more than three years on lees.

Fiano is a star performer in the Heathcote vineyard with lovely natural acidity which means, even in the warm conditions of the region, it can make sparkling wine with finesse, definition and freshness, without the need for acid or sugar adjustment (this wine has zero dosage) in the winemaking – a true sign that the grape is a great match for the site.

The 2019 Felicitas is a complex and driven style of sparkling, displaying layered aromas of brioche, pistachio and wild rocket alongside floral and syrup cake notes, with a persistent bead and a lifted, fresh finish. Perfect with aged parmesan!
