2020 André Bonhomme Viré-Clessé Les Prêtres de Quintaine

The “Les Prêtres de Quintaine” is a wine produced in very small quantities (about 2,000 bottles). This powerful and very refined vintage comes from a vine of close to 100 years old, located in the hamlet of “Quintaine”, which marks the junction between the communes of Viré and Clessé. The name of the wine actually comes from the fact that the plot is planted on the hillside facing the chapel of Quintaine, and thus this plot faces “toward the Priests”.

Quintaine provides a unique environment within the domain, due to the nature of its soils (Bathonian limestone and Oxfordian marl), as well as its east/south-east exposure. The wine of this unique clime is made in 100% oak barrels, in which it is left to develop for 24 months.

The result is a racy, mineral, and beautifully complex wine that will flourish over several years of ageing. This wine combines very well with creamy poultry.
