The 2020 Barbera d’Alba Vigna Serraboella fom Cigliuti is bright, effusive and full of character. A burst of dark red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal and pipe smoke makes a strong first impression. Ripe, silky tannins add to the wine’s considerable appeal. The Serraboella is such a delicious wine. It spent 18 months in cask and neutral oak.

This comes from three parcels, one on the more extreme, southwest facing aspect and two from the gentler, northeast facing part of the hill, looking towards Bricco di Neive. A combination of 2-3 year old casks and barrels are used (all neutral). “A rich vintage” Claudia Cigluiti says of 2020 and that is obvious here – the wine is fruit sweet, pulpy and purple berried in flavour, with a softness of tannin that makes it a delicious, early drinker.
