2021 La Spinetta Barbaresco Gallina

Our adventure in the world of Barbaresco began with the purchase of the prestigious Gallina vineyard in 1995. Gallina allows us to produce wines that are refined with great elegance; these are sensual wines with surprising longevity, characterized by intense floral aromas, combined with delicate notes of eucalyptus and mint. 13.5 Ha, 55 year old vines with a south exposure,  planted on Calcareous marl, strongly characterized by light coloured sand, 250 above sea level.

The fruit undergoes maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats for an average period of 15 days. Malolactic conversion in French oak barrels, of which 20% are new and the remaining second passage, followed by 18 months of ageing. Finally, it is bottle aged for about 8 months. The wine is bright ruby red, with hints of cherry, geranium, and ripe blueberry on the nose. The wine is gentle and elegant with hints of small red berries and chalm on the palate. Tannins are soft but well present, and the finish is wide and persistent. – La Spinetta
