2019 will go down in Tasmania as one of our very best vintages. It was a fantastic growing season, a long summer of moderate temperatures resulted in a long slow ripening period that delivered us beautiful clean fruit. This wine as with all the Holyman wines is 100% estate grown and comes off vines that were planted in 1986. The fruit for this wine comes from a 0.8Ha block called Boris. All the fruit is selected for the lignification or ripeness of the stalks as the wine is 100% whole bunch. As always with this wine there is a hint of cola on the nose, as well as some dried herb pomegranate. The fruit in the mouth is subdued but there is definitely cherry, and raspberry with a finish of fresh from the garden strawberry. There is a structure to this wine that makes me happy……and that’s not easy! The balance of the fresh fruit and the dry tannin from the whole bunch give this wine a length and strength that will see it living for a very long time, and make a lot of people happy. – Lou & Joe Holyman
