2020 Lowestoft Estate Chardonnay

100% Coal River Valley Chardonnay was hand-picked and chilled overnight before being whole bunch pressed into seasoned French oak (300L) and left to undergo wild fermentation with the inclusion of some solids. 50% of the wine was sulphured immediately post primary fermentation with the remaining 50% stirred without SO2 for 3 months. 9 months in oak prior to blending and bottling. – Liam McElhinney, Lowestoft

The Fogarty Group has made quite a splash in Tasmania and wines like this make a serious statement about their confidence to play at the top end. The cool 2020 season defines impressive flinty, mineral texture and enduring acid drive, energising perfectly ripe white fruits and impeccably integrated oak. 95 points.
